Welcome to the new, re-imagined, Annielyn Images. It’s 2011 and it’s been a crazy start to the year. So much so that every time we have gone to update ourselves to you, nine other new things have happened. So, in the next few posts, we’re just going to summarise what’s been going on, and what it means for you

First, some recent history. I accepted the position of Vice President of the PPAQ (link)
Whilst I love hanging out with other photographers, there was one thing I noticed. Photographers complain. A lot. About other photographers. About markets. About gear. About change. Many meetings were had about conditions the world had ‘thrust upon us’. And it made me realise – WHAT A BUNCH OF COMPLAINERS HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I’m not in this for the complaining! I’m in this to photograph beautiful weddings. That’s it! And when Anna and I refocussed on that, we accidentally made some startling leaps and bounds. And that’s a rollercoaster that we have strived to keep rolling.

Towards the end of 2010, we realised change was needed. Times change, clients change and we wanted to not react to this, but lead the charge into this. Everyone remembers the GFC (it’s still current ) – we thought it didn’t affect us, but slowly (too slowly) noticed that you (the reader) WERE changing, not in a negative way, or a positive way – just changing.

So we changed our mission. Drastically. But didn’t know how to introduce it. Didn’t know how to present it so that the cool, big city kids (photographers) would react to it positively and so that you, our couples who help us have this career would react positively. Then we realised something. There’s an easy way to solve this problem. Stop worrying about other photographers! We’ve never been the same as them anyway! You guys know that, that’s why we get so many awesome clients! We just never realised. Sure we all use cameras, kind of in the same way we all use cars to get to work! But we’re not all the same.

When that light bulb went off, things got exciting! Fast. Too fast to blog about!

On the weekend I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Jodi and her family… All i can say is that was a very entertaining shoot. Zane and Macaulee were absolute characters and had me laughing the whole time especially when they told me that “I Rock”… too funny!! Here are just a few as promised.

2010 Business Excellence Awards

On the weekend we attended the annual Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards. This years theme was Saturday Night Fever and everyone looked great.

Congratulations to all the finalists and category winners. Also to Stahmann Farms who were the Business of the Year.

Charlotte & Sam

I first met Charlotte a few years ago when her mum Kathy organised some family portraits. A couple of years later I got a call to say she was getting married to Sam and wanted us to photograph it… I was really excited for them, and now i have just had the honour of doing some maternity shots… How awesome is it to be a part of so many special parts of ones life.. and document it!!

I would like to congratulate you both on your beautiful new addition, Miss Ava. Can’t wait to meet her!

Megan & Justin

The other week we headed to the coast to do a shoot with Megan and Justin, tough I know:) It was a beautiful winter day, so much so that the beach was packed… We found a great spot and had a fun shoot. We ended the shoot where Justin popped the big question…. mwah!!

Here’s a couple from the day… can’t wait for your wedding.

Annielyn Images recently did a photoshoot for the cover of the local Wedding Guide. We had a great shoot with a fantastic team who made it all possible. Tamika was our awesome model and her hair was done by Leesha’s Hair Design and Makeup by Amanda’s Finishing Touch and it was all put together by the one and only Michael and Charlie:)

They have narrowed it down to just 3 images to choose from and would love any future brides to cast their vote… Please head on over to the Toowoomba Wedding Guide website to cast your vote.

Lots of blog posts this week

We woke up to some pretty serious weather on Saturday morning – fog, rain and the promise of more fog and rain to come.

It didn’t matter though, as Anna’s ancient kung fu training held the weather at bay (like most Asians, Anna is a ninja and can black out the sun by the power of thought alone )

Mick has (sorry, HAD. He’s been married for two days now ) the ultimate bachelor pad – there were like 19 of the coolest guys I’ve ever seen in one place in my life with the car collection from the Fast and the Furious in the front yard.

Jess is just gorgeous. Mick’s alright too.

But the light was falling fast, meaning the tripod and the camera remotes were brought out for some night shots (night basically starting around 5pm!) The moon was lighting up the the dramatically cloudy sky so we pinched them after entrees (at the Highfields Cultural Centre) for a few shots outside to finish off
